Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said he will beat Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka if he vies for the presidency in 2022.
Speaking during a radio interview at Iqra Fm on Tuesday, Mutua said Kalonzo’s time to become president is gone and he should consider retiring from active politics.
"Kalonzo has wasted most of his years supporting other people instead he could have vied for the presidency. He will not win against me since I am the better choice for Ukambani people,” Mutua said.
Mutua said he will not support Kalonzo in 2022 as some leaders are asking him to do.
“I won’t support Kalonzo but, I will be happy if Kalonzo will support me to be the next president. I am ready to serve Kenyans as the next president after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure ends in 2022,” he added.
He said Machakos residents should expect more development in the next four years he will be serving as the governor.
Mutua said corrupt workers in his government will be sacked, arrested and be taken to court for prosecution.
“Any county worker who will be caught engaging in corruption must face the law. Public resources must be respected by everyone for the sake of boosting the livelihoods of our people,” Mutua said.
