Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika’s political star continues to rise as the 2022 succession politics starts to take shape.
Kihika has become a household name in Nakuru and political pundits argue that she will be a force to reckon with in 2022.
She joined active politics in 2013 when she was elected the Nakuru Assembly Speaker after losing in the primaries for Bahati MP seat.
In 2017 election, Kihika was elected as Nakuru senator defeating top veteran politicians in the county.
With the 2022 succession politics taking shape, a majority of Nakuru residents are contemplating compelling the vocal senator to contest for the governor seat.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Kihika, the daughter of former famous politician Kihika Kimani, has all that it takes to be Nakuru’s next governor.
Ngure observes that the senator has a strong support base that could easily earn her the governor's seat in 2022.
“Kihika has the numbers and will easily win the governor seat should she declare interest,” the analyst says.
The political pundit also argues that Kihika had developed deep political networks with top political leaders in the country.
The senator is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto and she never misses the DP’s rallies in Nakuru and neighboring counties.
Senator Kihika has not declared an interest in the Nakuru top seat but her close allies say she could contest the gubernatorial post.
