Speaking on Radio Jambo Monday morning, the lawmaker stressed on the need for sobriety in the ongoing operation, observing that the forest conservation process has taken a political turn, hence the victimization of the forest dwellers.

He further defended his Elgeyo Marakwet counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen who is leading the anti-eviction camp from allegations of insulting the President and branding him a goon.

According to Cheruiyot, Murkomen was misquoted, noting that the goons he referred to are state officers who are using the eviction to satisfy other people's political needs.

‘’Murkomen ako na akili na hawezi tusi Rais. Wale wakora alikuwa anasema ni wafanyikazi wa serikali ambao wanaexecute order ambazo hawakupewa kwa manufaa ya wanasiasa fulani (he never insulted the President but was referring to state officers who are using the eviction order for political satisfaction of other people),’’ said the youthful legislator.

‘’Hawa ni kama County Commissioner George Natembeya na afisa wa Kenya Water Tower Management (these include the Narok County Commissioner and Kenya Water Tower officials),’’ he added.

Murkomen has as well come out to clear his name, bashing some unnamed quarters for using the allegations to secure his ejection from the Jubilee Party and his Senate Majority Leader slot.
