Kilifi County Governor Amason Kingi has mourned the death of his former deputy, Kenneth Mwakombo Kamto.

The late Kamto was shot dead on Wednesday morning by gunmen at his Nyali home in Mombasa County, in what police say was a suspected robbery.

Kingi who worked with the deceased during his first term in office, said Kamto will be remembered as a selfless, dedicated and able leader.

He assured that his administration will stand with the family of the late Kamto during this difficult time and further requested relevant investigative organs to move with speed to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book.

"On behalf of the County Government of Kilifi, I wish to express my deepest condolencesto the family of the late Kamto and assure them that we will stand with them during this difficult time," said Kingi.

Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi has also mourned Kamto, terming as a man of peace and a man dedicated to the well-being of the people of Kilifi.

 "He was a tireless worker and an indefatigable servant of the people. And on this sad day, not only for Kilifi but also for humanity, I join my voice in condemning the odious act of brutality that robbed us of such a resourceful leader."

He added: "It is my prayer that our security agencies shall hasten their investigations and bring the perpetrators of such a reprehensible act to justice."

Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki, condemned the incident and affirmed that security agencies have commenced investigations to unleash the three gunmen behind the politician's murder.
