Activities at Kirinyaga county funeral parlour were on Wednesday morning halted after four women emerged laying claim to the body of the deceased.
According to Citizen TV, the 32-year-old Peter Mwangi had succumbed a week ago after being involved in a road accident.
Efforts by the hospital administration proved futile as the women exchanged blows in attempts to bury the deceased.
Susan Wakuthi, Jannet Wambui, Lydia Wanjiru and an unnamed woman sustained injuries after a fight ensued among them as they argued over who was the rightful wife to take the burial roles.
Reports claimed that the slain boda-boda rider had sired with each of the women.
It took the intervention of police officers who separated the four as morgue attendants watched helplessly. It was later agreed that the deceased's uncle was the one to collect the body and no woman would be sidelined in the burial matters.
One of the deceased colleagues who spoke with Citizen TV urged his men to share information regarding their polygamous affairs so as prevent cases of fights when one dies.
"In case of having more than one affair ensure that the two wives know each other so as to prevent these fights," boda-boda rider told Citizen.
The deceased was later buried at his uncle's, Stanley Ngigi, home in Ngomongo Village in Kirinyaga Central sub-County.
