The immigration department of Kenya has now come out to give updates on various requirements for applying and replacing a passport.
In a series of tweets on its official Twitter account, it indicated that a person needs the following for a new passport application:
New e-Passport application requirements.
1. Original ID and a copy
2. Original Birth certificate and a copy.
3. Recommender ID copy
4. Online filled forms
5. 3 Invoices
6. 3 passport size photos
7. Parents ID copies
The department noted that all applications will be done through their website, e-citizen.go.ke, and applicants who made a mistake during their applications will need to visit the immigration offices for any corrections to be done.
In another tweet, the prices for new applications and renewals were listed.
Here is the amount you will pay for a new passport and when replacing a passport:
1. A series (32 pages) costs 4,550/=
2. B series (48 pages) costs 6,050/=
3. C series (64 pages) costs 7,550/=
4. Diplomatic 7550/=
5. Mutilated passport 10,050/=
6. Lost passport; 12,050/=
It was also noted that all payments are done through Mpesa or credit cards.
