President Uhuru Kenyatta will next Friday visit Nyanza region, his first tour after he successfully defended his seat as president after the August 8 general election and October 26 repeat poll.
He will be visiting the region that is opposition chief Raila Odinga's political bedrock slightly three months after he met Raila at his Harambee House office in Nairobi and agreed to work together.
There have been claims that Uhuru and Raila's meeting delved at the possibility of amending the Constitution to create more government posts and one of the beneficiaries of one of the posts to be created will be Raila. The amendment is also meant to revise the age limit for vying for the presidency to allow Raila contest for the country's top seat in 2022.
Basing on this claims, there is a possibility that Nyanza residents will task Uhuru to fully support Raila's bid for Kenya's top seat in 2022.
Residents from the region love politics and this are expected to dominate Uhuru's tour.
Residents and leaders from the lakeside are also foreshadowed to use the tour to haggle for development projects since Nyanza is among regions which have not greatly benefited since Uhuru took over power in 2013 from former President Mwai Kibaki.
