Kisii Governor James Ongwae has said that his administration is doing everything possible to end land grabbing in the county.
The county boss while speaking on Thursday during the inauguration of an intergovernmental land task force comprising of 17 members to carry out an audit of all public land and give a report to both the County and National governments for action said land grabbers will not have room anymore.
"The task force will identify lands that have been grabbed and ensure that land registers are kept for the sake of keeping off land grabbers who forges documents to claim ownership of land falsely. Mapping will be done properly to ensure land grabbers doesn't penetrate," he said.
He assured that his government will not allow any cartel to grab land meant for public institutions such as schools.
"Anyone who acquired land illegally should consider surrendering the land before the law catches up with him or her. Residents should not be harassed by cartels whose intention is to accumulate wealth for their own benefit," he added.
Ongwae appealed to local leaders to be at the forefront to help in flushing out cartels coming up to grab public lands.
