Arrest orders have been issued against parents who fail to take their sons and daughters to form One as agreed. The directive was issued by Mbeere North Deputy County Commissioner Christopher Siele who called upon local administrators to ensure compliance.
Siele cautioned the reluctant parents telling them that it's either they choose to educate their children or risk jail.
Siele observed how some other children were loitering all over the village, despite the government insisting on 100% transition from primary to secondary schools.
"Local administrators must come up with a list of children who are yet to report to secondary school, so as to enable arrest and prosecution for such parents," he said.
Siele spoke during a launch for an earth dam by National Disaster Management Authority chair Raphael Nzomo. The Deputy Commissioner insisted that the government is purposed to see 100% transition which would enable every child access to secondary school education.
Presidential directives must be adhered to. "The head of state was clear enough when he directed that all KCPE candidates be exposed to secondary school education. This is the high time that parents must put aside all jokes," he added
