Kisii County commissioner Godfrey Kigochi confirmed the recovery of the cows saying the 11 cows were stolen from David Kuria's home in Mirangine constituency in Nyandarua county on Wednesday night last week.

"Police officers from Nyandarua who were tracing the cows informed me that the cows were spotted in Kisii on Friday morning. Immediately I deployed police officers in various markets in the region to recover the animals," Kigochi said on Sunday at Daraja Mbili market.

The police boss further said two suspects were also apprehended.

He said the suspect revealed to police that already three cows had been sold, one died while they were being driven from Nyandarua and the two others could not be accounted for.

"The suspects are helping police to name other suspects before they can be arraigned in court. Theft of livestock must come to an end," Kigochi stated and appealed to members of the public to report anyone they suspect is part of those involved in the criminal activity.
