Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has asked politicians not to side with suspects linked to corruption.
Duale says that the ongoing war against corruption will not be successful if politicians start taking sides.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Friday, Duale asked politicians to allow constitutional offices mandated to fight graft do their work.
He said that attacking investigating and prosecuting agencies will slow down corruption war.
“We politicians must stop making statements or taking sides in the ongoing war against corruption,” he said.
Duale said that the DPP and other agencies have the power to investigate and prosecute.
“They work on availability of evidence and should be given time to prove the cases instead of being criticized and condemned,” he said.
Duale said that the government is keen to support the agencies fighting graft.
The DPP has been under attacks from some politicians over the Tuesday arrest of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu.
Mwilu is facing corruption related charges and is being represented in court by 42 top lawyers led by former vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.
A section of politicians argue that Mwilu’s case should have not been taken to the courts and instead it should have been handled by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
