Fight against graft, compensation of post election victims, tribalism in public sector prominently featured in President Uhuru Kenyatta's private meeting with Raila Odinga at the Coast on Thursday.
The meeting comes at the time the president is struggling to contain corruption which has literally eclipsed his leadership.
A senior ODM official who did not wish to be mentioned, said the two leaders are keen to unify the nation after years of political animosity.
"Both leaders are concerned about corruption in the public sector and that informed their meeting at the Coast on Thursday. Odinga wants these issues solved.
"Also, they are finding ways of restoring confidence at the public sector by ensuring representation from all communities. We also have the puzzle of PEV victims who are yet to be compansated," he said.
After the meeting, the source adds, Uhuru is likely from this Friday to bring new faces to various parastatals and even in cabinet.
Reports emerged that Raila's confidants Dennis Onyango, Jakoyo Midiwo and Jack Ranguma will be absorbed to public service in the near future among other litany of opposition figures.
When asked about the meeting by the Standard, Mr. Onyango, Raila's spokesman, denied but admitted that the two leaders do meet regularly.
“Raila has not been to Kilifi in the recent past and I don’t think Raila meeting the President is news anymore. The two leaders meet regularly and that is not out of the ordinary,” he said.
In public, they have both endorsed the fight against graft which has seen top government officials arraigned in court.
