The DP's journey began all the way from selling chicken in his rural home of Sugoi, Uasin Gishu county in the 1990s and kept pushing the button to his current status.

Now after 6 years since he enrolled as a PhD student in the University of Nairobi in 2012, the DP is now set to add a Doctorate title to his name.

This is after being listed along 6 others to graduate in the upcoming 60th University of Nairobi (UoN) graduation which is scheduled for  December 21.

'Dr Ruto', as he will be referred to, will be graduating with a PhD in Plant Ecology after successfully defending his thesis early last month.

The university senate chaired by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mbithi approved DP Ruto's name alongside Victoria Ameoliza Gioto, Victor Muya Ndambuki, Cheronoh Fancy, Museleku Erastus Kiita, Jacob Kwamina Dodoo and Samso Samuel Ogallah who fall in the same category.

Ruto who has already declared his 2022 presidential bid is set to be the first president of Kenya with a PhD if he clinches the top seat.

His story is a testimony not only for those youths back at Sugoi village, Uasin Gishu county but also to all those who have a determined future.
