Addressing the press at St. Austin Catholic Church in Nairobi on Thursday during the memorial service of Mzee Samuel Mbova, Mutua said claims that he is being sought by the two agencies over graft are false and meant to tarnish his image.

Mutua termed the reports on social media as false, claiming that they were being peddled by his political enemies.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said he has not been asked or directed to appear before the EACC as claimed by the reports.

"Some people are peddling lies on social media that I am being sought by the EACC and the DPP. I want to say that this information is false and meant to tarnish my image and Machakos government," Mutua said.

He claimed that his enemies are out to finish him.

Mutua said he will not fall to their tricks.

The Machakos governor assured his supporters and Machakos residents that everything is okay and he is in office to stay.

"Some people want me out and they will be shocked because I am governor until 2022," Mutua added.

Mutua asked social media users to stop using the platform for peddling lies and fake news.

On Thursday, there were fake reports on social media that Governor Mutua had been summoned by EACC moments after the agency officers arrested former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.
