Speaking on Citizen TV’s Day Break Show on Thursday, Ng’ang’a said that the student did not deserve to die.

The former legislator said it is sad that young people are opting to kill each other when faced with relationship challenges.

Ng'ang'a noted that the family as an institution has collapsed,  adding that parents no longer know the whereabouts of their children and the challenges they go through every day.

“It is sad to note that the family as a unit has completely failed to nurture young boys and girls,” she said.

Wangechi, a sixth-year medical student was on Tuesday hacked to death by a 28-year-old man suspected to be her lover.

According to the police, the student was waylaid by her attacker and axed to death.

The suspect who suffered injuries as a result of mob justice meted out on him is being treated at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.

He is expected to be arraigned in court to answer to murder charges once he is discharged from hospital and investigation completed.
