Speaking in Bumula on Sunday, the ex-lawmaker who crossed over on Friday based his decision on being ignored by Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, whom he deputizes in the party.

Khalwale narrated asking Wetangula to fold his party and join Jubilee, a request that fell on deaf ears, leaving him with no option but to personally leave for the new destination.

The former Ikolomani MP said that he sent a similar request to Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi, who also ignored his calls.

''My two brothers refused, insisting that they must be on the presidential ballot come 2022 but after weighing their strength and rating them, they are very low when it comes on presidential campaigns,'' Khalwale was quoted by Standard.

The vocal ex-parliamentarian noted that the Luhya nation needs to be closer to the seat of power after the 2022 polls after being in the opposition for ten years.

He also insisted that he will not apologize to those thinking that he has betrayed them, adding that he is not the first one to take such a step.

'If I made a mistake by abandoning Ford Kenya for Jubilee, then our Luhya kingpin Muliro also made a mistake to ditch Kadu for Kanu'' said Khalwale who observed that Ruto's presidency is almost guaranteed, poking holes into Mudavadi and Wetangula's ambitions.
