In the recent past, the outspoken Cabinet Secretary has been linked to a possible political trial in Nyamira, a move Nyamira Jubilee Youth leader Brian Mamboleo on his Facebook page says it's a 'done deal'.

"He has done evaluations and in 2022, he will be out to rescue Nyamira. We need a manager and not noise makers," he said.

Initially, there were confusions over Matiang'i' political future given his roots both in Nyamira and Kisii Counties.

And at Kereri Girls, when challenged to join gubernatorial race by Governor James Ongwae, Matiang'i' said 'he is ready and alert'.

"The governor tells me to join the race. That's not a difficult thing but for now, we are serving our people in the roles we were given.

"But if it's about that, even James Keganda can deputise me. He's a gentleman," said Matiang'i, in reference to SONY Sugar board member Mr. Keganda.

There have been talks about Keganda's possibility to join Nyamira gubernatorial race and the latest hint was not a surprise.

Mr. Keganda, a banker by profession, has been Matiang'i's friend for a while and the latter is believed to have influenced his appointment in government.
