The trio was nabbed on Sunday while on a fishing expedition after reportedly crossing into the waters of the neighboring nation.

The trio from Kiwa beach identified as Calvince Ouma, Victor Okello, and Dan Kireti and are being held in Musoma Town.

Confirming the arrests, county Beach Management Unit official Edward Oremo noted that the Tanzanian forces also took away their catch and fishing gear.

He urged the government to sort out the issue of increasing arrests of Kenyan fishermen, stressing on the need for conducive working environment for the fishing fraternity.

“Fishermen need a conducive environment to undertake their activities for economic prosperity in this country,” he was quoted by the Standard.

This comes only a week after another group of seven fishermen were arrested by the same forces over the same allegations and detained at Sota Beach in Tanzania.

The group was from Remba Island in Suba North.
