Eldas MP Adan Keynan has said that it is unfair to hand students such a tough punishment after many years in school. The lawmaker is now calling upon Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to revisit the decision.

He argued that the students are likely to consider the idea of joining terror groups such as Al-Shabaab following the cancellation of their results. He urged the government to put in place tracking measures in order to find students who cheated in the last year’s examination instead of punishing innocent students.

"Before cancelling results, let competent government agencies conduct proper investigations, “he said, as Daily Nation quoted.

The cancellation of the results affected around 17 schools from the region.  The students whose results were cancelled were given an option of re-registering for the examination. Keynan also lauded the defense forces for the response towards terror attacks in the nation.

He further said that the troops need more support from different agents in order to win the fight against terror attacks. The remarks come at a time when different stakeholders are brainstorming on how to end terror attacks across the nation.
