Pressure has continued to mount on the detectives to arrest Migori Governor Okoth Obado over the cruel murder of Sharon Otieno.
Ms. Otieno, a second year student at Rongo University, died last week mysteriously and her mutilated body was discovered in Homa Bay.
And female MPs led by Kisii County Women Rep Janet Ong'era, said that the governor should be held responsible.
"The police have heard a lot about the governor's possible involvement. The two are even speculated to have been lovers. Why is this taking long to have him in cells?
"His PA is even directly implicated and it's funny that until now nothing has been done. Her killers are know and they should be in by now," she said.
On her part, Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga warned that detectives may not make any meaningful progress if the governor is not arrested.
"Let us not run from facts. He is the main suspect and let the law take its course," she added.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Migori's Pamela Odhiambo who asked for immediate prosecution of the governor.
Ms. Otieno's mother, Melida Auma, said that the governor has asked the daughter to abort her pregnancy leading to misunderstanding between them.
DPP Noordin Haji insisted that there is no sacred cow in the Sharon's murder.
