Ali Mohamud is the Marsabit County Governor serving his first term in office.
Ali won the Mandera gubernatorial seat in the August 8, 2017, general election on a Jubilee Party ticket.
He took over the county leadership from Ukur Yattani who is now Labour Cabinet Secretary (CS).
Born in 1973 in Moyale, Governor Ali joined active politics in 2007.
He won the Moyale parliamentary seat on ODM party ticket and served to 2013.
In 2013, he unsuccessfully contested for the Marsabit governor seat on ODM ticket.

In 1993, Governor Ali graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi (UoN).
The governor then joined active politics in 2007.
In 2008, he was appointed as Special Programs Assistant Minister, a position he served to 2013.
