Speaking in Vihiga in a bid to woo residents to support his 2022 presidential aspirations, the country's second-in-command told off the ODM supremo, saying that Kenyans had grown tired of his empty slogans.

He said that Kenyans had no shortage of fools and that they could see through the deceptive antics of political leaders.

"Their work is riddles, empty stories, witch hunting and stupid exploits. I want to tell them that Kenya has a shortage of fools."

( Kazi yao ni kitendawili na story na fitina na mambo ya upuuzi. Hio nataka niwaambia watu wajinga Kenya hii wamekwisha)," he said.

The onslaught marks another escalation in the war of words between the former prime minister and the deputy president.

Raila and Ruto fell out in the lead up to the 2013 general elections in part due to the Mau Forest politics and a cabinet reshuffle that saw Ruto ousted as Agriculture minister in the Kibaki-Raila grand coalition government.

The deputy president has clearly made his intention to run in the 2022 presidential elections while Raila has remained non-committal about whether or not he will make another stab at the presidency.
