Speaking on Monday outside the Knut offices, Mr Sossion called for peace in the union and for its officials to resume work.

He said that he was ready to work with other members of the top brass of the troubled teachers' union.

"And we are not enemies of anyone and let me declare I am not an enemy of anyone as Wilson Sossion. And I hold no grudge at all against any of my colleagues, the leadership," said the Knut supremo.

His assurance comes on the heels of a court's intervention that reinstated him as Knut secretary-general until his case is heard and determined.

Mr Sossion has been battling a raging internal resistance from a section of Knut members who want him to step down from his position.

His detractors contend that his foray into politics after accepting the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nomination into parliament has made it difficult for him to serve the interests of teachers.

Sossion has rubbished that charge, saying that being in Parliament has put him in a position to better represent and articulate the interests of teachers.
