Billionaire philanthropist Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki will now have to watch his creditors offset his assets to recover millions owed, the High Court has directed.
In a ruling dated June 13, 2019 Judge Msagha Mbogholi ordered the complainant, Landmark Port Conveyors, to liquidate the Sh118 million sum by collecting monthly installments of three million shillings from Buzeki Enterprises Limited.
The firm which deals in haulage is reported to have lucrative tenders to ferry goods for some international institutions.
In the case, directors of Landmark Port Conveyors entered into a binding sale agreement amounting to Sh340 million on August 17, 2015 with Buzeki Enterprise Limited for the sale of two properties in Mombasa County.
They are a piece of land measuring 1.16 hectares in Section VI Mainland North and another 1.07 hectares in Section VI Changamwe Miritini.
The latest ruling is a blow to the flashy politician who first came into limelight in 2016. He took politics into another level by campaigning on chopper in Uasin Gishu gubernatorial elections.
Last month, Buzeki quit DP William Ruto's campaign team, blaming a number of top officials of alleged intimidation. Soy MP Caleb Kositany and Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet are among those on his blacklist.
He has since joined Chama Cha Mashinani under former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto. He was recently installed Keiyo elder after his defection from Jubilee.
