He also revealed that partnership with heifer international will help him fight against hunger and poverty in the county.

“Inked a partnership deal with Heifer International towards dairy, poultry and beef value chains development in Makueni. A great milestone in the fight against hunger, poverty while economically empowering rural communities,” announced the governor.

Many women will also benefit from the deal as many of them will be empowered with leadership skills. They will also be trained on how to access greater opportunities such as education and entrepreneurship.

Over years farmers from the region have been lamenting over a number of challenges in the sector. The county government has assured them of full support to ensure that they thrive. The poor climatic conditions have made farming an uphill and costly activity.

The new deal gives the farmers more reasons to smile as they look forward to reaping from the same.
