Ongwae while speaking on Friday at Nyakeiri village in Kitutu Chache North sub-county, said there is the need for the fuel prices to come down.

He argued that the cost of living has gone high since the fuel levy was increased on September 1.

Ongwae told Uhuru that the grievances emanating from the high cost of fuel by motorists and Kenyans who rely on kerosene should not be ignored.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta has powers to ensure the fuel prices come down. The complains from motorists and other Kenyans using kerosene should not be taken for granted. The head of state should act now and save the country," he said.

The ODM allied Governor said critics should not take advantage of the hiked fuel prices to spread propaganda about the national government.

Instead, he advised, there should be a collaborative effort from all leaders to address this concern.

"Leaders should not criticize the government over fuel prices but, instead join hands to find solutions to the problems we are facing as a country," he stated.

He cautioned matatu operators and boda boda riders against exploiting customers by overcharging passengers.

The Governor promised to upgrade roads which are under the county government to ease transportation.

"All roads under the county will be upgraded for our people to access various areas without difficulties anytime," he added.
