On Sunday, she unveiled a Sh15.1 million non-refundable loan to be channeled towards boosting small scale business women in the county.

Wanga dispatched the first batch of the grant at Sophia Market in Homabay Town, with over 11, 000 women from 80 markets aimed as beneficiaries.

The initiative which has been warmly received by women in the county is set to continue until next year, with the lawmaker saying that she will personally supervise the progress of the recipients.

“I will personally go to every market that is expected to benefit to oversee the distribution of the funds so as to ensure the intended people receive the money,”she was quoted by Mediamax Digital on Monday.

This comes at a time when women are giving their all towards ensuring that they overcome financial and cultural hurdles to prosper in monetary matters.

Wanga is expected to join the race to succeed outgoing county Governor Cyprian Awiti who is serving his second, and final term as per the constitution.

Though she is yet to officiate her bid, the leader has hinted that she will battle it out with among others, his main competitor likely to be Suba South lawmaker and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party National Chairman John Mbadi.
