A woman is recuperating at a Kakamega hospital after her son allegedly burnt her with a cooking stove following an argument at his home in Navakholo, Kakamega.

Ms Lydia Thomas reportedly found herself in trouble after attempting to tell her son to send away a concubine he had brought to a house he shares with his wife.

The victim narrated how her son came on Tuesday night with the new woman and ordered his wife out, and when she attempted to intervene, he hurled a burning stove at her.

"I heard him order the wife to leave the house. The wife on the other hand was pleading with him to understand that there was nowhere else she could spend her night what he couldn’t understand,” she was quoted by the Thursday Standard.

The stove then exploded and burnt the mother, leaving her with  38% burns.

According to Dr Afune Ingotse, a doctor at the hospital, the woman was in a critical condition when she was brought to the hospital but he managed to stabilize her.

“She was brought in a semi-conscious state. She was also in severe pains. I managed to administer fluids and other basics what helped improve her condition,” the doctor said.

The suspect reportedly went into hididng immediately after the incident and is yet to be apprehended.
