Gatundu South Member of Parliament has reacted after Kenya's Harambee Stars were beaten 2-0 by Algeria during the second Group D match in African Cup of Nations 2019 held in Egypt.
Taking a consolation message to his official Facebook account, Kuria has revealed that despite Kenya losing 2-0 to Riyadh Mahrez's side, it is possible to qualify for a second round only if Harambee Stars beats Tanzania even with officials buying out Senegal which is also among group D members.
"We can still qualify for the second round. Beat Tanzania through merit and send our seasoned corruption czars to buy out Senegal," his post read.
Kuria's relief message comes after Harambee Stars produced poor results in the much-hyped AFCON 2019 where they struggled to catch up with the game even with several stars lining up for the match.
During the first half of the game, the team appeared to be tensed after Dennis Omino conceded a penalty on the 34th minute of the play with Manchester City's Mahrez scoring the final goal of the match on the 43rd minute.
Despite the defeat, Harambee Stars can still redeem against fellow East African Tanzania on Thursday and Senegal in their final group D match on July 1.
