Chepkoilel rach Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) secretary general Sammy Bor has hit out on the Kenya National Parents Association for proposing that all schools should have one set of uniform.
Bor has termed the proposal as uncalled for and warned that it might lead to an increase of indiscipline case amongst students.
“I want to condemn the Kenya National Parents Association's move with the strongest terms possible for proposing such policies that are retrogressive and ill-intended since teachers will not be able to monitor their students,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.
The KNUT official noted that such proposals are awkward and cannot work in this time and era.
“This is not the right way to do since students come from different backgrounds, every school has its own tradition, motto and come from different backgrounds so it will be extremely hard to implement,” noted Bor.
He, further cautioned that rolling court same school uniforms across the country will be a major scandal, especially after the Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang revealed that there are already plans to outsource the uniform to one person.
The KNUT boss, however, called for consultations with all stakeholders before implementing the proposal.
