Mzee Mambala, the father of Sydney Mambala who succumbed to injuries sustained in an accident involving a car in DP Ruto's convoy, has revealed what the deputy president told him in a phone.

Speaking to the media on Saturday clad in a red shirt, Mr Mambala said that the deputy president called him through the area OCPD's phone to convey his condolences and assure the family of his support.

He said that the DP Dr William Ruto  said that he will foot the funeral expenses in full.

"He called me through the OCPD's phone. The OCPD said, "here is the deputy president, talk to him." The deputy president asked me to take  heart and said that he would take care of the funeral expenses from start to finish, " Mr Mambala said.

The accident happened after the DP's tour of Budalangi.

Dr William Ruto confirmed the incident took place on his Twitter page and that he had talked with Mambala and gave him his assuarance.

"Saddened by news of the passing on of Sidney Mambala Felix, a young and bubbly boy. Followed closely the situation after I was informed of the unfortunate incident and, now, deeply condole with the family of Mzee Mambala, his peers and friends for the grave loss of a loved one," Ruto tweeted.
