Police in Bomet East area are holding three family members accused of attacking and injuring a sub-chief in a land row.
The three reportedly pounced on Cheboin assistant chief Wilson Kasembe while trying to solve a land dispute involving the family.
Confirming the incident, area chief Alfred Orwasa said that the incident happened at Masare Village when the three stormed the resolution exercise with bows and arrows.
The three whose family is accused of encroaching into public land then reportedly attacked the administrator, accusing him of trying to grab their land.
He said that the family has allegedly grabbed about 0.5 acres of the land meant for coffee growing.
“A contractor has already been identified to set up the plant and when surveyors were called in they noted that more than 0.5 acres had been grabbed by the family,” he told the Standard.
The three later surrendered themselves to the police after residents threatened to lynch them.
"Irked by the action, members of the public mounted a search for the suspects threatening to lynch them but they had gone and surrendered to police,” the chief added.
The injured chief is nursing wounds at the Longisa County Referral Hospital.
