The March 09, 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga was among the major highlights during the burial of the late Migori Senator, Ben Oluoch Okello.
Okello was laid to rest at his home in Kanyimach village, Rongo Constituency, Migori County on Monday.
The burial was attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga and Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju among others.
During the ceremony, Tuju read President Kenyatta’s speech.
Addressing the mourners, he lauded the Uhuru, Raila handshake which made it possible for him to read the President’s speech in Migori.
“I am happy I can now read the president’s speech in Migori, this spirit of the handshake has even made my mother go to the market in peace,” the former Rarieda Member of Parliament told mourners.
Migori Governor Zachary Okoth Obado, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, and Senate Minority leader James Orengo are among a host of leaders who attended the Monday event.
Ben Oluoch Okello died last month, after suffering from throat cancer.
Before he joined politics, he worked as a morning show presenter at Royal Media’s Ramogi FM.
To many, he was a radio presenter first and then a politician.
