As Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago tenure ends in 2022, there are several leaders who have expressed interest to succeed him.
As at now, billionaire businessman Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki has appeared to be the likely successor of Mandago due to the following reasons;
Buzeki who was a strong competitor of Mandago in 2017 elections almost clinched the seat. He is remembered to have given Mandago's camp sleepless nights after it was rumoured he had Deputy President William Ruto's support.
Even when Mandago thought he could have a smooth win after Jubilee party primaries, Buzeki went further and vied on an independent ticket giving the vocal county boss a run for his money.
This experience in 2017 taught Buzeki a lesson and sure enough, he will plan his 2022 bid well and he might just emerge the winner.
Buzeki is a favourite to Uasin Gishu residents due to his humbleness whereby he has been transversing the county conducting many harambees and this has helped him build a base ahead of 2022.
Kenyan politics have been portrayed by how your bank is loaded and it is surprising that the richest on most occasions have always emerged the winners.
Buzeki being among the few billionaires in Kenya runs a lot of businesses and he will not have any problem when it comes to dishing out envelopes because it is a culture in today's politics that 'Kura yako kula kwako.'
Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat is expected to have many aspirants with Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi already rumoured to be interested in the top county job.
Kenyan Ambassador to Pakistan who lost to Mandago in the 2013 United Republican Party (URP) primaries, Julius Bitok is also expected to try his luck for the seat once again after stating out of the race in 2017 where he supported Mandago's reelection.
