Two men suspected to have murdered the wife to former District Commissioner Paul Yatich were on Wednesday arraigned before an Eldoret court.
The suspects identified as Laban Cheruiyot and Simon Lumile are accused of raping Loise Yatich before they killed her on Tuesday.
The incident took place at Kiplombe area within Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The deceased has been living alone after she separated from her husband.
Police apprehended the two suspects at Kabiyet area in Nandi County where they also recovered a vehicle belonging to the deceased.
It was alleged that the suspects stole the vehicle from the victim after they raped and killed her.
Appearing before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, the two, however, didn't take a plea.
The magistrate ordered the suspects to be detained at Eldoret West Police station until 30th October when they will be arraigned again to be charged over the murder.
Obulutsa said he arrived at the decision to detain the suspects for more 14 days to allow the prosecution to conduct and complete investigations before the suspects can take a plea.
