A middle-aged woman was hacked to death by her alleged lover outside the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret On Tuesday morning.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the young woman was a sixth-year medicine student at Moi University.

Witnesses at the scene, mainly bodaboda operators said the man used a hand axe which he repeatedly used to strike her head.

"He hacked her on the head as people watched.  The man is so daring," a witness who requested not to be named said. 

Bodaboda operators in the area responded swiftly and arrested the suspect. He is now in police custody.
