For months now, a team closely associated with Deputy President William Ruto has expressed dissatisfaction in the famous handshake, claiming that it's a move to sabotage the DP's quest to succeed Uhuru.

But over the weekend, in a move that could be strategic, the Garissa Town MP has dropped his opposition on the Handshake, insisting that all leaders ought to support it.

"We will support the unity, cohesiveness, reconciliation of our two leaders (Raila and Uhuru). We have no choice. They have put us on the path of reconciliation, on the path of cohesiveness, on the path of unity.

When Uhuru says this is the position, all of us from the Deputy President to the smallest person , we say yes Sir. And I am sure when my former party leader and Prime Minister says so, we shall do it. The problem isn't them, the problem is their lieutenants," Duale said.

This is the first time Duale is pledging support to the handshake having opposed it when it was first made public. His latest pronouncement could cause jitters within Tanga Tanga team.

Apparently, his position comes just barely hours after DP William Ruto on Friday promised loyalty to President Uhuru Kenyatta. Dr Ruto has been critical of the handshake.

“All of us, and I speak on behalf of all Jubilee leaders, are behind you. We understand where we started. We said then that Jubilee would focus on two things. One; to unite the country ... unite all the tribes ... people from all religions ... we stand with you without wavering," he said in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, where the President relaunched the Rivatex textile factory.
