Initially, Ruto had staged a youthful team under youth leader Antony Kibagendi and South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro as organisers in the larger Gusii region, a move that was opposed by veteran leaders.

Among those felt short-changed include Walter Nyambati, Joseph Kiangoi and Jimmy Angwenyi, who apparently played key roles in Jubilee's 2017 elections.

And two MCAs from Nyamira now wants the DP to hold a meeting in which they will be at liberty to chose coordinators of their choice.

"We are told that some individuals are in charge of his team yet he has never told us. They conduct events without our knowledge and this is unacceptable," said Rigoma MCA Benson Sironga.

Nominated MCA Irene Sese said the campaign team needs a total overhaul if at all Ruto is serious in winning Gusii region.

"Boardroom things cannot help him. As grassroots leaders, nobody consulted us. The DP must do away with brokers for his own good."

Apparently, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and Solicitor General Ken Ogeto have remained non committal to Ruto's camp.

Kisii and Nyamira Counties constitutes a voting population close to a million and could even increase by 2022.

Last month, Both Ruto and Raila Odinga, who is yet to declare 2022 interest, camped in the vast region.
