Having declared his intention to vie for presidency come the next general election, Mombasa Governor's dream journey to State House has taken a new twist after recent declaration from Siaya Senator James Orengo.
While speaking during a funeral in Kakamega County on Tuesday, Orengo who is a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga, indicated that the former Prime Minister is the party's choice of presidential candidate come the 2022 poll.
According to Orengo, as part of its game plan heading into the next election, the party is rebranding the former Prime Minister's image to boost his chances of making it to State House.
"We are rebranding our party leader to contest on an ODM ticket in 2022," said the Senate Minority leader.
Orengo's statement will no doubt come as a blow to Joho who has been keen to use the party as his political vehicle to springboard his political ambitions.
Not unless the firebrand governor decides to opt out of the next presidential race, his days within ODM may be numbered with his most recent meeting with his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi.
