One person collapsed and died during a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment exercise in Malindi, Kilifi County.
The recruit collapsed after participating in a run, on Tuesday, according to Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Nzioka, who led the recruitment exercise at Alaskan grounds in Malindi.
He said the male recruit was rushed to Tawfique Hospital after collapsing for treatment where he succumbed.
“Our doctors offered first aid and rushed him to Tawfique Hospital as his condition worsened. Unfortunately, the young man passed away upon arriving at the hospital," he said.
The officer further hailed the turnout, saying over 300 recruits showed interest but the females were not allowed since there were no slots for them this year.
The KDF recruitment kicked off on November 19 countrywide and will end on December 19, as the military seeks to recruit tradesmen/women, constables and general recruits.
