Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has vowed to champion generational change should he become president in the much awaited 2022 general election.
Mutua says he will bring change that will enable common citizens to afford the basic lifestyle.
He argues that his leadership will initiate development projects that will end the skyrocketing levels of unemployment.
Speaking in Mombasa on Tuesday when he met Eastern region teachers, Mutua said his leadership will seek to improve the economy, fight corruption and tribalism, curb unemployment and unify Kenyans.
The governor noted that life has become very difficult for millions of Kenyans, adding that the rich are comfortable whereas the rest of Kenyans are barely surviving.
“My wish is for economic growth in Kenya where every shilling is used efficiently to add money into the pockets and purses of Kenyans,” said Mutua.
The outspoken county boss vowed to deal with corruption mercilessly if he ascends to power in 2022.
He said corruption is the cause of all the social, economic and even political challenges the country is facing.
Mutua exuded confidence that Kenyans will vote for him in 2022. He, however, asked politicians across the divide to go slow on the succession debate.
He said it will be proper if elected elders focus on service delivery instead of embarking on 2022 campaigns.
Mutua promised to deliver all the development pledges he made to Machakos residents before his term ends in 2022.
