Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has revealed that ailing Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth has already decided on his return date from France.
The legislator has been undergoing cancer treatment in France for the past few months, and has so far been visited by a number of his colleagues from both sides of the political divide.
Speaking on Monday morning, Passaris who visited Okoth last week said that the MP is nearing his return, and will be back in July, after completing his chemotherapy treatments.
"Akimaliza chemotherapy atarudi Kenya, kama hapo mwezi was saba (He will be back around July once he completes his chemotherapy sessions)," she said on Radio Maisha.
Passaris was speaking on Bunge La Maisha show on Monday morning.
The lawmaker also defended Okoth's decision to seek treatment abroad, saying that he could not find the treatment for his type of cancer locally.
This was after a question was posed on why lawmakers are allocating themselves more allowances instead of pushing for the allocation of more funds towards the betterment of local health facilities, to prevent such.
She further noted that Okoth's decision to move out of the country was not because he doesn't believe in local doctors, but because was seeking the cheapest and most effective option.
"Cancer yake haiwezi pata matibabu Kenya. Pia kabla aende huko Ufaransa alienda Mexico ambapo aligundua bima yake haiwezi mlipia. (His type of cancer cannot be treated in Kenya, he had sought treatment in Mexico before moving to France after realizing that his insurance canot cater for the Mexican treatment)," she said.
