Mathare Member of Parliament Anthony Oluoch has hit out at the Jubilee government over several corruption scandals that have been witnessed in the country since they took over.
Speaking on Monday at Citizen TV's 'Daybreak', Oluoch said that the national government usually banks the lions share of allocation approved by Parliament but a huge share of the budget goes to a few individual's pockets.
"Members of Parliament in the entirety of their budget consume less than 2 per cent of the national budget; the national government is the elephant of the house. 83 per cent of our budget goes to the national government out of which 30 per cent goes to corruption," said the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP.
His remarks come as the government has been under heavy attack over major corruption scandals with the high ranking officials being linked.
Since the Jubilee government took power in 2013, there has been an increase in the country's debts with heavy borrowings hitting the nation, burdening taxpayers the most.
Despite Kenya being rich of natural resources, the government has borrowed heavily to the cry of the citizenry with the high inflation rates affecting business, hiking of basic commodity prices and the wage bill bleeding the nation.
