Luo Nyanza has given the nation a number of its high ranking leaders, among them opposition leader Raila Odinga and his father, the late Oginga Odinga who served as the first Vice President.
However, there exist some top and popular leaders who have since relegated themselves in the eye of the region to an extent that they are no longer relevant.
These include former Rarieda lawmaker land the ruling Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju whose recurrent opposite opinion has reduced him to an unwelcome child.
He has always stood against Odinga in his presidential bids and cannot possibly repair the damage he has done to his reputation in the region.
The other is Shem Ochuodho, the former lawmaker for Rangwe constituency in Homabay county.
The once very strong politician has not been in good terms with Raila who doubles up as the Luo Nyanza political kingpin, reason enough to see him lose in whichever seat he vies for in the region.
He has twice alleged of having been rigged out in NARC and ODM primaries (2002 and 2007) and uses every chance he gets when he appears any interviews to fire salvos at the former Prime Minister.
The other who might find it hard making a political comeback is former Ndhiwa lawmaker Agostinno Netto whose rebellion is considered the possible reason behind his failure to retain his seat in 2017.
Netto is considered a possible point-man for Ruto in Luo Nyanza in the 2022 polls.
