Embakasi South Member of Parliament Julius Mawathe has lost his seat.

Mawathe who was elected on a Wiper Party ticket suffered a blow on Friday after the Supreme Court nullified his election in August 2017 poll.

According to the court, the election results were not supported by any evidence.

The petition was filled by former legislator Irshad Sumra of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

The ruling, therefore, means that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will have to organise a new poll where residents of the constituency will elect their new representative in parliament.
