Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has confirmed that he is not afraid retiring in 2022 when he will be completing his second and last term in office.
Speaking on Friday when he condoled with the family of Dr David Ombati at Isecha village Manga in Kitutu Chache North, Ongwae said he is getting prepared to go home peacefully.
"Kisii people trusted me two times and elected me as their governor. I will not feel bad going home in 2022 because others also need to take over the leadership of our beloved county," he stated.
He, however, insisted that before he leaves office in 2022, he is committed to leaving a development legacy.
"Opponents should give me time to deliver the promises I made to Kisii residents before my time is up. The numerous criticism from rivals may end up hindering my developmental plan," he noted.
The ODM allied governor maintained that he has not condoned corruption as it has been claimed.
According to him, public funds in his government are being utilised well to fund various development projects across the county.
"The claims that public funds are being stolen under my watch in the county are false. Anyone with evidence about the theft of funds should report to authorities," he added.
