Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has put on notice engineers and contractors who collude to carry out shoddy work on county projects.
Through a press release to newsrooms, Governor Kinyanjui warned that poor workmanship equates to economic sabotage and punishable by law.
“We have to admit that poor workmanship equates to economic sabotage and punishable by law. Engineers and contractors who collude to carry out shoddy work on County projects will not go free,” said Kinyanjui.
The governor added that his government will continue to make good use of the project team management model where ordinary people contribute effectively in every stage of project implementation.
He said the participatory approaches will enhance value for money and projects being completed in time.
This coming barely two days after the county received a delegation of community leaders from Mau Narok led by area MCA Jackson Githua.
The Kiama Kia Ma – Mwaki Wa Mau representatives Mr Gerald Kariuki and Karuri Kamau (a former councillor) commended Governor Lee and area MCA for the ongoing projects in their area.
It should be noted that already construction of a maternity wing at Mwisho wa Lami and 2 ECD classrooms at Mau and Mahiga is ongoing.
Kianjoya, Gachembe, Makutano, Utalii and Gatimu villages are also set to have fully equipped and staffed ECD classrooms.
The Mathangauta Polytechnic construction is underway as well as rehabilitation of 5 key roads in the area under the Boresha Barabara program.
Area MCA Mr Githua urged farmers to embrace the ongoing free pyrethrum and avocado seedling distribution to cushion them from maize and potato farming uncertainties.
