Jackline Mwakha Okanya has said that Amani National Congress (ANC) failed to follow the due process to suspend her. She argued that her efforts to fight corruption made her a victim of circumstances.

She has now sued the party Secretary General Barrack Muluka and assembly Speaker Morris Buluma over the woes she is facing after she was suspended for 30 days.

She wants the suspension lifted so that she can serve her people as the minority whip.

In the suit filed before Chief Magistrate Bildad Ochieng’, she wants the suspension dismissed with immediate effect. She also claims that the party’s top brass has been issuing her with threats since she was given the suspension.

Mwakha was elected into the position of the minority whip on March 15 after the dismissal of Geoffrey Obonyo from the position. In a letter seen by Standard, Mwakha said that she wants to be given peace to discharge her duties to the residents.

She claims that the party has frustrated her to the point that she can no longer work for the electorate despite being given the mandate.

“You have attempted to get things done your way through the use of violence and intimidation and deliberately undermined the aims and objectives of the party,” read the letter in part, as quoted by Standard.
