The clergy has warned politicians against engaging in the 2022 succession debate.
Uasin Gishu chairman of Gospel Ministers Bishop Wilson Kurui said the debate will raise political temperatures in the country, leading to bloodshed.
“It beats logic to see politicians fight concerning the 2022 succession debate at this time in social media and all corners trying to incite Kenyans on issues pertaining leadership position for the presidency. This should stop since it’s not good for the country,” said Kurui.
Addressing journalists in Eldoret town on Friday, Kurui noted that the country has a sitting president, adding that those who want to be president should wait until his term is over instead of engaging in early campaigns.
“Politicians please leave Kenyans alone. Let the people of Kenya decide who is going to lead this nation in 2022. Let the people in the country work and forget about politicking. Leaders should concentrate on development and not politics,” added the Bishop.
Kurui further said that the political temperatures being witnessed in the country may lead to the division of Kenyans on political or tribal affiliations, which might lead to war.
Bishop Kurui urged Kenyans not to shed blood because of politics, but to instead remain united and make wise political choices.
