Monica was killed at her Kilimani apartment house on September 19 after returning from South Sudan.

Journalist Jacque Maribe and her fiancé Joseph Jowie Irungu have been arrested as suspects to the heinous act.

An NGO has also filed an affidavit in which they question why Sonko has not been grilled over the murder.

The NGO claims that Sonko was with Maribe at a posh city joint on that night of Monica’s brutal killing yet police have not shown interest in him.

"The Director of Criminal Investigations is yet to summon and record statements from the people that the second accused (Jacque Maribe) was in the company of on the night of the murder including governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko who was with her and others at an entertainment joint in Nairobi," the NGO, Empowering Africa Through Media, says in its affidavit filed at the high court.

Those in the know said Sonko was with Maribe and other revelers at the VIP section in the city bar when Jowie stormed the joint.

He caused a scene after he was denied access to where Maribe and Sonko were.

He later picked his lover and they left.

The NGO also wants CCTVs reviewed in joints where the suspects had visited.
